Dr. Nunley received her Bachelor's degree from Carson-Newman College where she completed a double major in Chemistry and Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She completed her degree as a doctor of medicine at Quillen College of Medicine in 1983. She was a Charter member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society and recipient of the Charles E Allen Scholarship Award in Internal Medicine upon graduation. Her training as an intern and resident in Internal Medicine was completed at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia . She completed her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at ETSU College of Medicine and was awarded the First Place Resident/Fellow Research Forum Award in 1987.
After completing her training Dr. Nunley became a faculty member of the Department of Internal Medicine at ETSU College of Medicine and headed up the Infectious Disease Section at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport, TN from 1987 until 1994. She served as Chairman of the Infectious Disease Control Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics at Holston Valley Hospital until 1998. Presently, Dr. Nunley serves the ETSU College of Medicine as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine/ MEAC in Kingsport ,TN. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Throughout her professional career she has maintained major clinical interest in disease prevention with special interest in immunizations, antibiotic utilization/ stewardship, and infection control.
