Providers
Myesa Emberesh, M.D.
Dr. Myesa Emberesh believes that children with cancer, although among the most vulnerable patients in the health care field, are entitled to the opportunity to live a full and healthy life. Each one deserves comprehensive care and the chance to be anything they desire. This fully embodies the reason Dr. Emberesh chose to pursue a career in pediatric hematology and oncology.
Dr. Emberesh is well experienced and feels fortunate to have trained in pediatric hematology/oncology at one of the top programs in the country. She is dedicated to her patients and their families. She will devote her time, effort, and her mind to providing quality patient care on a medical, social, and emotional level.
Dr. Emberesh grew up in Libya, where she attended medical school and began her pediatrics career. She moved to the United States to further build her pediatric education and pursue a career in hematology and oncology. Outside of work, Dr. Emberesh enjoys spending time with her family – she has two adorable children – and loves cooking and baking.
Marcela Popescu, M.D.
The dream to help others when they needed it most and a 2-year-old Hungarian boy with acute leukemia inspired Dr. Marcela Popescu to become a doctor. She joined the team at the time of the opening of the Niswonger Children's Hospital and has been here since. Today, she helps deliver protocol-related care to pediatric patients in our area and in collaboration with community physicians, to ensure timely referral and diagnosis and appropriate therapy for these children.
She currently serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the gatekeeper of the St. Jude’s Tri Cities Affiliate Clinic. Dr. Popescu helps provide care for patients with cancer, blood disorders and bleeding diathesis.
Dr. Popescu is committed to providing critical clinical service to our underserved area. She constantly seeks out new ways to assist the clinical team in running as efficiently as possible, to improve patient satisfaction and to maintain patient safety. She has the necessary training, experience and collaborative abilities to help improve availability and access to expert care and communication for children with cancer and catastrophic illnesses in our area.
Romanian born, she has lived in the United States for over 25 years. The mountains and climate remind Dr. Popescu of her previous home, an academic small town in the middle of Romania. She considers the exceptional professionals and people at ETSU Health Pediatrics her extended family.
Meghana Srinivas, M.D.
Dr. Meghana Srinivas strives to provide exceptional care to all her patients for their hematologic and oncologic conditions -- both as their doctor and as an ally. She approaches the inner child in every patient interact with. Dr. Srinivas considers each child and their family unit as a whole and works alongside them to individualize their care based on their unique situations and preferences.
Dr. Srinivas chose ETSU Health after seeing that coworkers genuinely cared about each other, had a good work-life balance, and were overall really happy. The mountains and greenery were also a welcome contrast to the cities she and her family had previously lived in. She feels that St. Jude’s Tri-Cities Affiliate clinic and ETSU Health are the perfect fit for her both professionally and personally.
Leigh Shaw, N.P.
Leigh Shaw became a pediatric nurse practitioner because she enjoys caring for children from birth to adulthood. She spent over 10 years as a bedside nurse. Those experiences pushed her to desire a deeper understanding of medicine and the ability to provide holistic, patient-centered care at the provider level. Leigh also wanted to travel with medical mission trips and incorporate her knowledge to educate local providers and nurses in different parts of the world. She is passionate about caring for children and their families in times of illness.
Angela Willocks, N.P.
Angela Willocks became a nurse practitioner in pediatrics because she wanted to focus on the care and well-being of infants, children and adolescents by providing patient centered care. Her entire nursing career has been in some form of pediatrics, which is her passion.
She was initially drawn to ETSU Health Pediatrics because she grew up in this area and knew she wanted to stay local. Angela has worked as a nurse practitioner with ETSU Pediatrics for more than 20 years. An ETSU alum herself, she is proud to have a son also attend ETSU.
Lauren Wyatt, N.P.
From the time she entered the healthcare profession as a registered nurse, Lauren Wyatt wanted to dedicate her career to pediatrics. Lauren has two sisters who were medically complex as children and understands first-hand the importance of a skilled, empathetic and holistic health care approach and team. She chose to pursue the role of nurse practitioner to further build her clinical skill set as well as to increase her knowledge and education to better connect and communicate with children and their families. Her goal is to not just cure illness but to improve overall quality of life.
She has been a pediatric nurse practitioner for over 12 years and is always working to expand her knowledge and skill set. But more than that, she loves her patients and believes in giving each of them the same care she would give her own children.
