LPN Coordinator
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Licensed Practical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for performing nursing services for the care and treatment of patients as well as directing and overseeing all work activities of clinical staff in an efficient and effective manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure clinical staff are doing their assigned duties in an efficient and effective manner.
- Be a leader of, and train, the clinical staff.
- Be cross trained in clinical staff positions, within scope of practice, to be able to cover the absence of co-workers.
- Assist Office Manager as requested.
- Receive and prepare patients for examination, obtaining blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and weight.
- Assist the healthcare provider with patient examination, treatment, and minor surgeries as instructed.
- Keep rooms clean and stocked with necessary supplies and sterilize equipment.
- Give instructions and/or explanations to patients and family members as directed by physician.
- Schedule patients for hospital surgeries and diagnostic procedures.
- May perform specialized testing (treadmill, ultrasound, bone marrow, etc.)
- Act as liaison between patients, patient’s family members, healthcare facilities, and physician to coordinate the care and treatment of patients.
- Answer phone calls relating to clinical issues.
- Administers p.o, i.m, s.q, topical meds as directed by healthcare provider.
- Abide by the rules and regulations as set forth by the Board of Nursing in the State of Tennessee. Perform duties within the scope of an LPN in an effective, efficient manner.
- Act as liaison between Office Manager and clinical staff
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries, diseases, and deformities, including treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive healthcare measures. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with faculty members, students, residents, staff, patients, and other third parties. Ability to concentrate on the situation at hand and listen effectively. Ability to operate computer, keyboard, and printer. Ability to organize tasks; work as a team member and independently using sound nursing skills with a variety of professional disciplines. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding. Knowledge of health insurance procedures to obtain pre-authorizations and/or referrals. Convey a professional and positive image and attitude.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Diploma or equivalent from a one-year college or technical school and currently licensed as an LPN in the State of Tennessee. At least three years nursing experience required or two years clinical experience within MEAC as an LPN with proven ability to train new employees and coordinate majority of specialty clinics and general medical practice as determined by supervisors.
