Dr. Taylor received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University in Massachusetts. She completed pre-medical courses at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed her general surgery residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. During that time, she completed two years of research in the Pediatric Surgery Research Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. She completed her Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. She was an associate professor with tenure at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, from 1990-2005. She has been a full professor of Pediatric Surgery at East Tennessee State University since 2005.
