Dr. Block serves as the Dean of ETSU Quillen College of Medicine and the Vice President for Clinical Affairs at East Tennessee State University.
Born and raised in Florida, Dr. Block moved to Tennessee to attend The University of the South in Sewanee. He received his medical degree from the Quillen College of Medicine in 1992 and his Master of Business Administration from Emory University in 2012. He finished his residency at the University of South Carolina, Richland Memorial Hospital in 1996 and fellowship at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University in Maternal/Fetal Medicine in 1998. He also trained as a visiting fellow at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium.
After working as the medical director for the Minnesota Perinatal Physicians in Minnesota, he returned to Quillen in 2016 as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology before serving as the university’s Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Dean of Quillen College of Medicine. Dr. Block is the first Quillen College of Medicine alumnus to serve as Dean.
Dr. Block is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal/Fetal Medicine Subspecialty.
